DBACOCKPIT, A new feature on SAP ERP 6.0

SAP ERP 6.0 or SAP ECC 6.0 or it might also called mySAP ERP 2005 was powered with some new transacion code. Some code are for Basis. Some tcode is created to simplified Basis work. One of tcode which I have found is DBACOCPIT.

DBACOCKPIT is new tcode but actually old ones since it actually only summarize some tcode and gather them on one screen. From DBACOCKPIT screen you can go to ST04 screen, DB02 screen, DB13 screen, and etc. You can get information and statistics of your database since database startup on ST04 screen. DB13 gave you access to database schedule activities such as database backup (whole, full, or incremental), archive log backup, database update statistic, database check, and etc. DB02 gave you information about current size of database, tablespace, critical tables and indexes, and etc.

Well, DBACOCKPIT is very useful tcode for Basis.

SAPGUI for Java Rev 8 is already released on April 1st 2009

SAP has finally revealed its latest SAPGUI for Java version. SAPGUI for Java rev 8 is released and you can view its release note on https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/sap-gui.

Enhancements and New Features
Support for new OS versions: openSUSE 11.0
Applet: A new certificate has been used to sign the product, because the previous is valid only until April 1, 2009.

Searching for the best linux distros for sap workstation (season 2)

After couple month of release posting about the best linux distros for SAP workstation (or SAPGUI ready), I am trying my best to experiment again. For such long time there are some of linux distros which is match with my requirement.

1. Still Vector Linux 5.0 SOHO edition with its complete and robust application including SUN Java, CUPS, and SAMBA server installed. This is great linux distro for desktop. I highly recommend this distro.

2. PCLinuxOS 2009.1 is the newest PCLinuxOS distro which now also powered with the latest SUN Java, CUPS, and also SAMBA server. SAMBA server was not included on the previous PCLinuxOS version. I think this distro is great and easy to use. Its also powered with the latest hardware support. You could also remaster this distro to suit your requirement because this distro had been powered with remaster script by out of the box.

3. Linux Mint 6.0 is the latest Linux Mint released which based on Ubuntu 8.10 (the latest Ubuntu version when this article is written). This distro still lack of SAMBA server. But this distro is easy and well supported by Ubuntu community.

4. OpenSuSE 11.1 is the latest community version of SuSE and I think this distro is also great one. I am using this distro on my notebook for work.

That’s all distros I can recommended now. I still going to get my other research about SAP and Linux. Stay tuned.

Remote Client Copy from PRD server to QA server

Well, after learn how to do client export and client import, now its time to do hard wok. Doing remote client copy. For easy one, you can follow this procedure :

1. This is remote Client Copy(for that scc9). One system to Another System.
2. Create a RFC in Quality Server Client 300.
(Put target System is Production Server and Mention Client Also)
And then check Connection. – It should be OK.
3.Now run SCC9 from Quality Client 300.
Required—
Selected Profile: SAP_ALL
Source destinat: Choose created RFC.

Then please Tick first TEST RUN.

If it goes Successfull then Go for Next.

**** At the time of Client Copy No Other user shuld be login.

Client Copy from PRD server to QA server through Export – Import

Hi…Today I am going to view about Client Copy using Client Export and Client Import procedure. It’s easy and safe way than direct client copy.

Client Export:
1. Run SCC8
2. Select Profile for desired copy type (Usually All SAP_ALL or user master only SAP_USER. You will need direction from the requester as to the correct selection here. Use Profile -> Display Profile to display profile details.)
3. Select target System (or group)
4. De- Select “Test Run” (If selected)
5. Run Export
- Up to 3 requests are created, depending on the data selected and available:
1. “SIDKO00353″ for transporting client-independent data, if you have selected this
2. “SIDKT00353″ for transporting client-specific data
3. “SIDKX00353″ for transporting client-specific texts, provided texts are available in this client
6.Monitor TP logs for errors and export files for growth
Client Import:
1. Create client (scc4)
2. Login to client (sap* – pass)
3. Manually add “O” transport then “X” then “T” to TMS buffer
4. Highlight #1 and use “Request -> Import” to launch import tool
5. Monitor “I” file in OS “/usr/sap/trans/tmp” dir for progress info
6. After Import is complete perform “post processing steps” from client tool (SCC7)

So if you have 3 transport requests and the data has been exported successfully then go for an import in quality system

I hope this could help to refresh QA server with PRD server data and settings.

Activate and Configure SAP ITS Webgui on SAP ECC 6.0

Since SAP ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0, SAP has integrates its SAP Internet Transaction Server (ITS) on its server. You don’t need to install separate ITS server. You just need to activate and configure it. Follow this procedure :

Check if you have activated:
1) With transaction SICF and locate the services by path
/sap/public/bc/its/mimes
/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui

2)With Transaction SE80 locate from the menu, Utilities –> Settings–>Internet Transaction Server (Tab)–>Publish (Tab) and set “On Selected
Site” = INTERNAL.
This restricts the publication in the next step to the integrated (internal) ITS.

3)In SE80 only, Locate the Internet Services: SYSTEM and WEBGUI.
Publish these services with the Context Menu -> Publish -> Complete Service

4)Now Browse to http://<server>:<icmport>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/! and login to the webgui.
